Research another endangered animal from Indonesia (such as Badak Sumatera, Trenggiling Sunda, Owa Jawa, Jalak Bali, Pesut Mahakam, Babi Rusa, Biawak Komodo, Kanguru Pohon Wondiwoi) and write a profile or make a poster describing them, where they are found in Indonesia, and what environmental threats they face.
Research one of the endangered Australian animals found at the zoo (see below) and write a profile or make a poster in Indonesian so you can educate students in Indonesia about the issues facing native fauna here.
If visiting the zoo, look for some of the other animals there that come from Indonesia (see the map for some clues). Using the information from their exhibits and from online research, add some extra stops to the zoo trail.
Write a letter to the President from the perspective of one of the endangered animals of Indonesia asking them for help with conservation efforts. Remember to use the letter format, use appropriate register/formality of language, describe the animal, its habitat and the issues faced.
Write a story about an animal where the moral of the story is about preserving the environment. Either use one of the Indonesian animals that you have learnt about, or one of the endangered Australian animals found at the zoo (see below).
If visiting the zoo, observe the behaviour of some of the animals and record their activities (use as many different verbs as possible) in a journal using a series of entries over the course of a given time. Make sure to use complete sentences.
Write a persuasive speech addressing an environmental conference in Indonesia that looks at one of the main threats facing the endangered animals there. Remember to discuss the situation, the long- and short-term impacts of the issue, and possible solutions to the problem.
Write an informative report for the environmental conference or an evaluative news article for an Indonesian newspaper to highlight the plight of one of the endangered Australian animals found at the zoo (see below) or one of the conservation efforts underway here. Remember to weigh up both the positives and negatives of the situation.
Visit the zoo with native speakers of Indonesian to discuss what they know about the animals there - both Indonesian and Australian - and the environmental issues facing them.
